Thoughts on iPhone 4 Otterbox Defender Case

June 13th, 2011 2 comments

I’ve been using the Otterbox Defender case for about 6 months now. Overall I’m very happy with the protection of the case. I’ve dropped my iPhone more times than I can count and every time the Otterbox Defender case has done just what the name promises.

My biggest complaint about the Defender case is that dirt and debris get inside the case and stay under the built-in screen cover and the back of the case. While the Defender has kept my iPhone from cracked screens and dings, my iPhone 4′s front screen and back cover glass are now permanently pitted from the dirt that collects inside the case.

If I would have known about this… defect?… of the Otterbox Defender, I would have installed a… Read the rest

Broken iPhone 4 Screen Replacement cost drop!

May 9th, 2011 No comments

Back in February I made a post on TechRestore’s $99 Dollar price for the iPhone 4 screen replacement. That was already a great price for a new iPhone 4 screen, but they’ve since lowered the cost to $89!

The price for them to replace your iPhone 4′s broken screen for you remains at $139, which is still a great deal.

Just to clarify, the $89 iPhone 4 screen/digitizer price is for the AT&T version of the iPhone 4. The Verizon iPhone 4 replacement screen is the original price of $99. But like I said, that’s still a great deal.

If you decide to replace your iPhone 4 screen yourself, be advised that there are a lot of parts to remove… Read the rest

Sippy Cup Gets a FREE iPhone 4 replacement!!!

September 21st, 2010 2 comments

So, if you haven’t read my first post, people call me Sippy Cup because I always spill and drop stuff, including my new iPhone 4 the first day I had it. So my new iPhone 4 was broken (more like shattered) and I was sad.

I took my iPhone into an Apple store to see what the Genius Bar could do for me. Well, they basically told me I could buy a new iPhone 4 for $600, or purchase the applecare plan for $69 and then have it replaced for $199. Neither option sounded good to me so I just left.

A couple weeks later I was at a mall to get some Clear 4G aircards for work and my friend suggested we try… Read the rest

Broken iPhone 4 – First Day I got it. My iPhone 4 With Broken Glass.

August 6th, 2010 1 comment

In the 8 years that I’ve owned a cell phone I have NEVER broken one. Although I have repeatedly dropped them on concrete, asphalt, water and coffee, my previous cell phones just kept on going.

Now I will say for the record that because of my apparent tendency to drop and spill things I have earned the nickname “Sippy Cup.” So while I make no claims to gracefulness I still think the iPhone 4 has some serious weaknesses.

Here is a picture of the back of the case on iphone 4 the FIRST day I had it. This was after a 3 foot fall to concrete.

Why would Apple make a cell phone from glass – the most shatterable material known to man?
